Italian Baroque painters formed in southern Italy, Verrio, after a passage Toulouse and Paris, will see a great reputation in the court of England for his talents as a colourist and his sumptuous décor of Windsor Castle or Hampton Court.
The exhibition project was born from the restoration of the large outstanding painting in the museum of St. Augustine Felix Cantalice. This work ruined by a flood was saved by the expert hands of restorers.
The reconstruction of the context of this painting has been Originally an exciting encounter with a man, an artist and a work at the crossroads of three cultures. Our exhibition retraces the atypical of this artist, European before his time, and the exciting adventure the restoration of St. Felix of Cantalice.
